Your experience at Unity in Green Valley may be different
than what you have experienced in traditional churches.
We have no rituals, ceremonies, doctrines, or creeds.
We honor all paths to God, knowing that there is Truth
to be found in all religions.
We believe that we create our lives with our thoughts,
so we emphasize the positive view of life. We teach
taking responsibility for our thoughts, our actions,
and our lives, knowing we are powerful, spiritual beings
- made in the image and likeness of God - who are having
a human experience. God is within each one of us - guiding
us, supporting us, and supplying us with all that we
need.
We believe in the power of prayer and teach affirmative
prayer. By praying for the highest good, we know that
we are drawing to us exactly what we need to live a
happy and purposeful life.
If you are seeking more meaning in your life, if you
know there is more to you than what you have been taught
thus far, if you have the courage to seek Truth, we
invite you to join with others of like mind in this
exciting journey we have undertaken. Try us for a few
Sundays and see if this is the place for you.
We invite you to roam through our Website and find something
that will inspire you, help you, or arouse your curiosity.
OUR HISTORY
Over four years ago, one Henderson resident decided to do
something about her desire to meet people of like mind.
And so it all began - evolving into what is today Unity
in Green Valley.
Kathryn Thalden started a book study group based on
Neale Donald Walsh's first book, Conversations With
God. The response was heart-warming, so she started
a second group to study A Course in Miracles. A weekly
meditation/prayer group and a Power vs. Force study
group was later added to the list of center activities.
Local residents showed up, the groups grew, some even
driving from the west side of the city to participate.
Ann Graham and Sherry Fickler responded early on to
Thalden's call. Eventually, the three of them decided
to offer Sunday services. On Easter morning 2003, Unity
in Green Valley devotional services were begun. UGV
is an expansion ministry of the Unity School of Christianity,
based in Lees Summit, Missouri. Unity was founded in
the 1890's by Myrtle and Charles Fillmore. The ministry
is based on the original teachings of Jesus the Christ.
Unity is probably best known for its publication of
the Daily Word, a daily devotional book read around
the world.
Sherry Fickler retired in 2005. Kathryn Thalden retired in June 2007, and Ann Graham continued on as spiritual leader whilst the process of choosing an ordained Unity minister was carried out.
On 1st August 2007 Rev. Sophia Falke started her ministry as Unity in Green Valley's first ordained minister !
Check on the leadership page for more information.
We are a spiritual center devoted to "serving those
who seek The Most High." We are a Divine Idea in progress
and welcome all who wish to participate.
Sunday services are held at 10:00 a.m. at The Henderson International School on the north eastern corner of Green Valley Parkway and Windmill. Please call 435-3289 for information and
location of classes. |
