Having become the fourth member of a trio is a rather strange experience. Mind you this particular trio was always more than just three people. It started a few years ago when the then Music Director - John Brock - was taken ill and couldn't make the Sunday Service. Michael got together with Barry and Rafael at very short notice and Subito was born.

Over the years others have played along or sung with the band - both Suzanna and Kathryn were from time to time stalwart contributors, and now Nancy, Steve and Kitty regularly play with us - but somehow I don't see "Subito Sextet" ever catching on....!

In having been known for so long as a "trio" we can of course take our cue from that great British New Wave band of the 1980s - The Thompson Twins.... Noted not only for the fact that none of them were remotely named "Thompson" - but also that there were actually three of them !

In the picture below you can see three of us singing loudly (I think we were reasonably in tune !) at the Fall picnic in 2005 ...

Now at the time I didn't actually have a guitar here, but just to show that my current playing is a revisting of familiar ground - here below is a picture of me that was taken in 1976 during university rag-week (where weird events are held to raise money for charity !) at my college in England..... The Aria 12 string guitar I have now is a much nicer instrument than the EKO I was weilding here - and the picture also usefully dispells the notion some may hold that I never had any hair !

Those of us who play in the band today, and all of you who enjoy our playing owe a great debt of gratitude to Michael for starting the group, inspiring our playing and giving us our rather unique name.... Perhaps when the dust has settled he may perhaps feel able to join us occasionally....
